Overview
This Getting Started guide will walk through the functionality provided by the EchoMark email integration. If you haven't yet, please go through the Configure Email Integration for Microsoft Exchange steps to set up the integration.
Getting Started
Configure a mail flow rule
After an integration with Microsoft Exchange has been created, the first step is to test the connection with a mail flow rule. Follow the steps in Configure automatic marking for Microsoft Exchange to set up your first mail flow rule. After the rule has been configured, send a test email to yourself that will trigger the rule. You should see the email in your inbox with an individualized footnote.
After the mail has been sent, navigate to https://app.echomark.com/activity. You should see an activity entry that describes the email that was just sent. Next, navigate to https://app.echomark.com/messages/email. You should also see the email and can click on it for more detail.
Run a sample investigation
Now that we have a mail flow rule in place, the next step is to run a sample investigation. Follow the steps in Run a Sample Investigation to get a feel for how investigations work.
Create a marking policy
EchoMark allows you to flexibly configure marking options through policies. Using the steps in Setting Mark Options for your Organization, create a new marking policy by changing some of the watermarking options. Update your mail flow rule to use this new policy by setting x-echomark-options to the policy id. Try sending another email and repeating the sample investigation above.
After trying out a few different policy options, you can click on View marked copies in the File tab, or View marked emails in the Mail tab to observe the differences in the watermarking options.
Outlook Add-in
EchoMark offers an optional Outlook Plugin that allows users the ability to rephrase their emails and select which a specific marking policy. Follow the steps in Outlook Add-in to launch the Add-in.
